Alumni Reunion Weekend 2023

The sun shone throughout Alumni Reunion Weekend in September 2023 as we welcomed over 200 alumni back to College for a weekend of celebration, academic stimulation and socialising.

The opening address by the Vice Principal and HUS President, Ben Evans, set the scene for the weekend with many alumni wishing to take Ben home with them, so inspiring was his talk.

Tours of the gardens and dining hall proved to be very popular as did the screening of The New School, filmed partly at Homerton in 1947.  Peter Cunningham led a stimulating and thought-provoking discussion on how teaching has altered over the past 70 years.

Earlier in the year David Clifford ran a very successful symposium on Overcoming Class Barriers in Cambridge which he repeated, albeit in a slightly shorter format, with a panel of staff, current students and alumni.

Alison Wood gave an update on the work and future plans of the Changemakers Programme and the Charter Choir joined together for the first time that term to sing most beautifully to a packed hall of enraptured guests.

Words from our guests

A weekend at Homerton would not be complete without the best food of any College in Cambridge.  The kitchens excelled themselves in producing a superb lunch, dinner and afternoon tea, not to mention a Homerton full English for the many alumni who chose to stay.

The reunion weekend would not be the success that it is without many staff, past and present, giving of their time to ensure that our guests are made to feel welcome and appreciated.  A tremendous amount of work goes on behind the scenes to create such an enjoyable experience for our alumni which is made worthwhile when such appreciative feedback is given.
