Kate Pretty Lecture 2023
Homerton was delighted to welcome Master of Jesus College, Sonita Alleyne, to deliver the 2023 Kate Pretty Lecture ‘Building Belonging Through Music’.
Black History Month Dinner 2023
Homerton College marked Black History Month with a prominent dinner, a highlight of the College year. This year in keeping with the theme of Celebrating our Sisters, the guest of honour was fashion icon and philanthropist Naomi Campbell.
Alumni Reunion Weekend 2023
The sun shone throughout Alumni Reunion Weekend in September 2023 as we welcomed over 200 alumni back to College for a weekend of celebration, academic stimulation and socialising.
Reverend Al Sharpton Visit
In February 2023 Homerton hosted an energetic and penetrating talk by the Reverend Al Sharpton, the US civil rights leader – with great advice for students derived from a vocation of advocacy and campaigning.

It has been an exciting year: A joint service with Girton Choir, an Evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral, a performance at the annual Charter Dinner and a tour to Iceland!

Michaelmas 2023 has seen unprecedented levels of Homerton success in sport. Not only have our teams continued to prove to be worthy opponents in collegiate competitions, but we have also seen a plethora of Homertonians excel at University level

How to introduce the story of Homerton Library in 2023? Once upon a time? However, life is not a fairy tale. It’s very clear that, on reflection, the common thread woven through this year’s tale is that people and their stories inspire change and help shape our community.
Bursar’s Report
This has been a year of team building and personnel change for many of Homerton’s departments. As you’ll have read elsewhere in this publication, one of the most significant is that Dr Penny Barton will retire as Senior Tutor on 1 January 2024.
Senior Tutor’s Report
2023 saw many developments in the Tutorial side in College. Our new Wellbeing Team was established with the arrival of our new wellbeing lead (Grace Hernandez) and later her Assistant (Claire Hogg): together they have been able to develop a wide range of initiatives for both students and staff, experimenting to see what ‘lands’ with the different cohorts.
